Essentially it is a term for any software or hardware that removes ads from a webpage. The consumer in you is saying "great!" the business owner in you (especially if you use services such as Google Adwords) is saying "Help!" For the consumer ad blocking not only takes away those annoying ads but helps speed up the browing experience. So from a business perspective what exactly does this mean and should you be worried? Well if you spend large amounts of money to a fairly generic audience online you probably won't be affected too much, after all your ads are being delivered to a huge audience anyway. For smaller businesses who spend a smaller amount on ads for a more tailored market even 10% of users installing an ad blocker can impact your results. How do you avoid losing that portion of your market? One way is to ensure you diversify your advertising and marketing plans, another is to use a service that isn't slotting your ads in from an external source.
