You‘re not alone in asking that question. There are of course really no limits when shopping for baby. So some guidance can be very helpful. Here are some suggestions courtesy of Treasures -
6 singlets
4 stretch and grows
2 sets of pyjamas
2-3 tops and/or jackets make sure they‘re long to keep baby‘s back warm
Cloth nappies to use as burp cloths and for resting baby‘s head on
2 long-sleeved T-shirts
6 pairs of socks – not too tight
4 blankets to wrap baby in
Baby changing table
Changing mat
Baby bath
Disposable wipes
Nappy cream
Baby thermometer
High chair (although you won‘t need this for a while!)
Front pack or sling
Nappy bag
Car seat (you can hire these from Plunket)
1 hat
Nappies (disposable or cloth)
Sheets and blankets
1 cotton bath sheet
Cot or bassinet
Pram or buggy
If you are having a Spring or summer baby include 2 short-sleeved T-shirts, loose trousers or leggings in thin material, sun hat and 1 thin cap
For Autumn or winter babies include a fleece suit or sleeping bag, woolly hat and mittens and warm socks
You don‘t have to buy all of this new. Ask around. Maybe you can borrow some things or buy second-hand - a better option for the environment and your budget! Article details from Treasures
